The flavors of fresh pesto may seem complex, but making pesto couldn’t be much easier.
Made with toasted pine nuts, fresh basil leaves, garlic, a good hard grating cheese, sea salt, and extra virgin olive oil using either a food processor or blender, fresh Italian pesto will last in your refrigerator for about a week but will keep much longer in your freezer.
Feel free to substitute walnuts for a more affordable alternative to pine nuts.
